<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a putter head easy to hold ready to swing correctly while making it easy to recognize the moving direction of the head when hitting a ball. <P>SOLUTION: Indexes forming a pattern with a plurality of isosceles right triangles continuously combined without overlapping and with a plurality of first straight lines 15a, 15b, 15c, etc. visualized at regular intervals and in parallel with a face surface 12 within the pattern are formed in a range from a back part 13 of an upper face 11 of the head to the rear end of a blade part 14. The indexes can be formed in such a color scheme that a part 18 between the toe part 17 and a heel part 16 of the range becomes darker toward the center part in a lateral direction, or can be made reversely.
