The present invention refers to a process for obtaining a biodegradable polymeric material from the tamarind seed powder, which is copolymerized with acrylate by means of a reaction of free radicals. The resulting copolymer is biodegradable and may be rigid or flexible, according to the amount of ethyl acrylate added to the powder of the tamarind seed. Once the copolymer is obtained, this is dissolved in organic solvents such as ketones and alcohols, as well as toluene and xylene. In addition, the resulting copolymer is thermoset, thus preserving its shape upon being heated and decomposed. The polymeric material of the present invention may be molded from a water-based paste or a viscose fluid, without organic solvents. The molding processes are: injection, extrusion, calendaring and molding by pressure. It can be molded at room temperature, thus having a substantial energy saving, since the conventionally used polymers are molded at high temperature.
|
