PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer ceramic electronic component capable of preventing loss of plating layer due to electrolytic concentration.SOLUTION: A multilayer ceramic capacitor 10 serving as a multilayer ceramic electronic component includes a ceramic element body 12. Internal electrodes 16a and 16b are embedded in the ceramic element body 12. External electrodes 20a and 20b electrically connected to exposed portions 18a and 18b of the internal electrodes 16a and 16b are formed on end surfaces 12e and 12f sides of the ceramic element body 12. The external electrodes 20a and 20b include sinter metal layers 22a and 22b, conductive resin layers 24a and 24b, plating layers 26a and 26b. When a cross section including a boundary between the conductive resin layer 24a (24b) and the plating layer 26a (26b) is seen, the number of metal particles exposed from the conductive resin layer 24a (24b) is 50 to 250 per 1 mm in length of the boundary between the conductive resin layer 24a (24b) and the plating layer 26a (26b). |
