Provided is a preparation method of lithium iron phosphate serving as a positive electrode active material of a lithium ion battery. The preparation method comprises the following steps: providing a lithium source solution and ferric phosphate, wherein the lithium source solution comprises an organic solvent and a lithium source compound dissolved in the organic solvent; mixing the lithium source solution with the ferric phosphate to form a mixed solution; heating the mixed solution at a first temperature under normal pressure to form a precursor solution, with the first temperature being in the range from 40 ℃ to 90 ℃; and putting the precursor solution into a solvothermal reactor to carry out solvothermal reaction, with the temperature of the solvothermal reaction being a second temperature, and the second temperature being higher than the first temperature.
