In a computer system 106A, a power module 250 coupled to a processor 252 receives direct current (DC) operational power from an external source 102. The DC operational power is in the form of a pulse train (pulse wave) with a varying duty cycle, the duty cycle being controlled by the external system. The power module may comprise a rectifier circuit 260, the input portion 264 of which is coupled to the DC operational power and the output portion 266 of which is coupled to a capacitor 262 so that voltage at the output portion is changed by the external system. Preferably, a sense line 210 is coupled between the output portion and the external system to provide feedback control of the voltage at the output portion by the external system. The power module may also comprise an isolation transformer (404, fig. 4) of which the primary is coupled to the DC operational power and of which the secondary is coupled to the input portion of a full wave rectifier circuit (402, fig. 4).
|
