<p>(a) Cpds (I). where R1 and R2 (same or different) are H, Cl, F, methyl, methoxy or CF3; R2 is H, Cl, F, methyl or methoxy; with the provisos that R1 and R2 and R3 are not all H, and that no two contiguous atoms of the benzene ring carry CF3 groups. (b) Acid-addition salts of cpds (I). Hypotensive agents. 2-Hydrazino-2-imidazoline hydriodide (22.8g) (cpd. III) + aq. 2N-KOH (50 ml.) + ethanol (150 ml) + 2,6-dichlorobenzaldehyde (19.3g) (a cpd. II). Refluxed with shaking for 12 hrs. Evaporated under reduced pressure. Residue extracted with hot toluene (250 ml). Filtered; filtrate cooled and concentrated. 2,6-Dichlorobenzaldehyde 2-imidazolin-2-ylhydrazone (m.p. 177-8 deg.C) (a cpd. I) obtained.</p> |
