A method of managing incoming communications on behalf of a plurality of recipients. The method comprises, at a server, receiving communications A1 intended for the recipients, storing the communications, and designating the communications as unreported A3. The method further comprises, periodically, identifying recipients for which unreported communications are stored A4 at the server and, for each of the identified recipients, when the current time is within a reporting period defined for the recipient A5, A6, generating and sending a report A8 that notifies the recipient of unreported communications and, for those communications notified in the report, designating the communications as having been reported at the server A9. The arrangement allows recipients to specify when they accept notifications of incoming communications such that, for example, they may be sent during a particular period in the day, rather than throughout the day. Notifications of newly received communications may be deferred A7 and sent when the recipient(s) reporting period/window is open. If more than one communication is to be reported the notifications may be aggregated A8 into a single report. The main embodiment is a system for allowing parents to indicate to a school, and particularly relevant parties within the school (e.g. reception and teacher), what the school collection arrangements are for children for particular days after school. Teachers may receive an aggregated report of the particular child-specific collection arrangements for that day at an appropriate specified time, such as just before school finishes. The relevant recipient(s) may be identified from the subject of a particular communication. The sender (e.g. parent) may further be verified A2 before being allowed to specify an updated collection arrangement e.g. using a password. The parents may be able to supply new communications/instructions using voice, email, text message, online etc. |
