The present invention relates to a smart key system using movement pattern recognition of a portable terminal which can prevent a vehicle from being controlled by illegal use of the smart key by a user who has no legitimate authorization, and to an operating method thereof. The smart key system using movement pattern recognition of a portable terminal according to the present invention comprises: a portable terminal continuously transmitting location information generated in accordance with the operation of a user; a memory where a setting pattern used in order to determine whether to perform an unlocking operation on a door of a vehicle is stored; and a control module acquiring a movement pattern of the portable terminal by using a plurality of location information received from the portable terminal, and unlocking the door of the vehicle when the acquired movement pattern is consistent with the setting pattern stored in the memory. |
