PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which has high carrier mobility and low drive voltage and high solubility with respect to an organic solvent, when used for a semiconductor active layer; and provide an organic thin film transistor using the compound.SOLUTION: There is provided an organic thin film transistor including a general formula (1) (R-Reach independently represents a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom; Rand Reach independently represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; at least one of Rand Ris a substituent represented by a general formula (W); S represents -(CR)- (Reach independently represents a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, n represents an integer of 0-17); L represents a specific divalent linking group; and T represents an alkyl group, an oligo-oxyethylene group, an oligo-siloxane group or a silyl group).
