PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air battery which is arranged so that the time required for discharge can be shortened by lessening the local unevenness in wear of an electrode plate according to the temperature distribution in a negative electrode plate owing to the inflow of air into the battery or the convection of an electrolyte, and which allows another secondary battery to be charged in a short time.SOLUTION: An air battery comprises: a positive electrode 2; a negative electrode 3; and an electrolytic solution 5 interposed between the positive and negative electrodes. In the air battery, an electrolytic solution-side superficial area of the electrode plate 3 on a low-temperature side (e.g. an air inlet side) thereof is made larger than that on a high-temperature side by forming e.g. convexoconcave portions 3a according to a temperature distribution arising in a face of a negative electrode plate 3 that the negative electrode includes. In addition, the thickness of a portion (e.g. an upper portion) of the electrode plate 3 on the high-temperature side is made larger than that on the low-temperature side. |
