PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent, in performing operation to capture a subject within a screen by automatic zoom to photograph the subject, the subject from being photographed with inappropriate focus and exposure.SOLUTION: An imaging device includes subject detection means for detecting a subject from an image, and control means capable of executing a predetermined mode to control zoom operation so as to maintain the position or size of the subject within the screen on the basis of the position or size of the subject detected by the subject detection means. When the execution of the predetermined mode is instructed, the control means disables predetermined setting operation.
