PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin, a whitening agent, and a melanocyte differentiation inducing inhibitor which have more excellent whitening action by discovering a method for preparing a component (&bgr;-1,3-1, 6-D-glucose derivatives) having a differentiation inhibition activity from a stem cell to a melanocyte in large quantities simply and efficiently.SOLUTION: &bgr;-1,3-1 and 6-D-glucose derivatives are found out to be obtained very efficiently by extracting from Alaria praelonga Kjellman with hydrous lower alcohol of specific alcohol concentration or using purification with ion-exchange resin together. The external preparation for skin, the whitening agent, and the melanocyte differentiation inducing inhibitor of the invention can suppress significantly differentiation induction to a melanocyte from a stem cell, can fundamentally treat and prevent pigmentation disorders and stains, and can be contained into drugs, quasi drugs, cosmetics, foods, and the like. |
