PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component supply device and a method thereof capable of efficiently supplying a carrier tape.SOLUTION: The component supply device has an oscillation unit 41. In the component supply device, a front end portion of a following tape 14(2) is positioned being overlapped with a preceding tape 14(1), and a contact end 41a of the oscillation unit 41 comes into contact with the front end of the following tape 14(2) to function as a stopper of the following tape 14(2). The preceding tape 14(1) is fed in a tape feeding direction D to eliminate the overlap with the following tape 14(2). In a state that the tail end part of the preceding tape 14(1) has passed through a second forcing position P3, a second forcing unit 46 which is located at any position free from limitation of movement by the preceding tape 14(1), the oscillation unit 41 is relatively forced to swing in a vertical direction to release the stopper function of the contact end 41a to the following tape 14(2). A first detection means 42 detects a height of the detection end 41b of the oscillation unit 41, thereby detecting the oscillation posture of the oscillation unit 41. |
