PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information system for informing a service person of details about an abnormality in a washing machine, the time of occurrence of the abnormality, and details about operation through a portable information terminal, thereby providing support for coping with the abnormality.SOLUTION: An information system for a washing machine includes a washing machine including: data communication means for performing data communication; current time/calendar setting means capable of setting a current time and date; control means for controlling a series of washing operations; a self-diagnosis section for self-diagnosing details about a failure; a non-volatile memory for storing data on a failure, an operation history and so on; input means for setting the turning on and off of a power source, an operation course and so on; and display means for displaying details about operation set by the input means and the progress state of washing. The information system for a washing machine further includes a portable information terminal capable of performing data communication with the data communication means of the washing machine. The control means of the washing machine allows the self-diagnosis result of the failure and the date and time of occurrence of the failure to be stored in the non-volatile memory. The portable information terminal reads the contents of the non-volatile memory by data communication and displays the details about the failure and the date and time of occurrence of the failure stored in the non-volatile memory on a display screen of the portable information terminal. |
