<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable engine starting on the basis of cylinder discrimination with a simple configuration without causing wasteful fuel injection and generation of exhaust gas exceeding a regulation when a cam sensor fails.SOLUTION: When failure of a cam sensor 11 is determined by an electronic control unit 20, output time intervals of output signals of a crank sensor 8 are measured in the compression strokes of cylinders of an engine 1. On the basis of variation in the measured output time intervals, cylinder discrimination is performed for the compression stroke of the cylinder closest to a crank wheel 8 and for the compression stroke of the cylinder remotest from the crank wheel 8, and the engine 1 is started based on the cylinder discrimination result.</p> |
