1284770 Oven cleaning preparations COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 6 Aug 1970 [7 Aug 1969] 39641/69 Heading C5D A method of cleaning ovens and the like comprises applying to the clean surface of the oven an alkali metal bicarbonate so that in use the bicarbonate is converted to carbonate, and after use soil is easily removed by washing, e.g. with water. Sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate or mixtures thereof may be used in the form of an aqueous solution or suspension, gel, paste or aerosol. The solution or suspension may be applied from a non-pressurized container by Venturi action actuated by a cartridge of compressed gas. Optional ingredients are (a) anionic and non-ionic surfactants, e.g. sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate and nonyl phenol polyethylene oxide (8-11 E.O.) condensates, (b) suspending agents, e.g. hydrated silica powder, (c) corrosion inhibitors, e.g. sodium benzoate, (d) gelling agents and (e) propellants e.g. chlorinated hydrocarbons, CO 2 , N 2 O or mixtures thereof. |
