1361053 Pneumatic tyres GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO 12 July 1971 [13 July 1970] 32669/71 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre comprises a carcass including a radial cord ply 22 which ply may extend continuously or discontinuously from bead to bead and includes doubled-over portions turned up (as shown) or turned down (Fig. 2, not shown) about bead cores 12 to provide two contacting reinforcing layers both axially inwardly and outwardly of the bead cores. The ply edges 26 may be positioned radially outwardly, or radially inwardly, with respect to folds 30. The tyre includes chafer strips 14. The cords of the ply 22 may be cotton, nylon, polyester, glass, rayon or steel. The Specification also discloses (a) a tyre with a carcass including two radial cord plies each being of the form described above, and (b) a tyre with a carcass including two radial cord plies only one of which is of the form described above (the other ply having no folded portions). |
