<p>Described are an ODD and a driving method thereof, which are capable of ensuring connectivity with or compatibility with a host by providing information on file systems and devices allowed by the host, with respect to the host with no compatibility with the ODD. The host has compatibility with a limited range of certain external media devices and a certain set of instructions for exchanging a specific format of file data, and the ODD and the driving method thereof transmit compatibility information to the host and internally select a certain set of instructions acceptable to the host, thereby having compatibility with the host. According to the present invention, an optical disk includes a data area, a main file system area, and a sub-file system area.</p> |
