<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and an end part detecting method of a printing medium capable of reducing damage to the printing medium, and capable of also detecting an end part of the printing medium by following a carrying speed of the printing medium. <P>SOLUTION: This printer 1 has an optical sensor 8 being a center paper feeding system and arranging a distance from the center of a carrying passage 34 for carrying printing paper P in a position nearer than 1/2 of a width of the printing paper narrow in a first width among the printing paper of the size loadable in the printer 1, a control part 9 being an end part detecting means for detecting the end part in the carrying direction of the printing paper P carried in the carrying passage 34 by comparing a detection signal provided by this optical sensor 8 with a predetermined threshold value, and a control part 9 being a changing means for changing the threshold value or detecting sensitivity of the optical sensor 8 or light projection intensity of the optical sensor 8 in response to a printing surface state of the printing paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
