PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing titanium oxide particles having a small total Cl content and being excellent in uniformity and dispersibility.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing titanium oxide particles: a first step of producing coarse titanium oxide particles by introducing gas G1 containing titanium tetrachloride and inert gas and gas G2 containing at least one of oxygen and water vapor and inert gas into a reaction tube and reacting them; and a second step of removing chlorine from the coarse titanium oxide particles by a dry dechlorination method. The total amount of the inert gas (the total amount of the inert gas in the gas G1 and the inert gas in the gas G2) introduced into the reaction tube of the first step is 1 mole or more and 50 moles or less with respect to 1 mole of the titanium tetrachloride, and the amount of the inert gas in the gas G2 is 5 moles or more with respect to 1 mole of the inert gas in the gas G1. |
