<p>Provided is a device that uses a transport path sensor to monitor the transport of a paper sheet regardless of the type or the damaged state of the paper sheet. This device is equipped with: a deposit slot (2) into which paper sheets are inserted from the outside; a determination unit (3) that obtains determination information about the paper sheets; a temporary storage compartment (4) in which the paper sheets temporarily accumulate; storage compartments (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) that store the paper sheets discharged from the temporary storage compartment (4); a transport path (10) connecting the deposit slot (2), the determination unit (3), the temporary storage compartment (4), and the storage compartments (5, 6, 7, 8, 9); multiple detection units (11) that are provided on the transport path (10) in parallel in the width direction of the transport path (10), and that detect the existence of the paper sheets; and a control unit (14) that determines whether a transport malfunction has occurred, on the basis of the determination information and the information obtained by the detection units (11). On the basis of the determination information obtained by the determination unit (3), the control unit (14) changes the detection unit (11) used when determining whether a transport malfunction has occurred.</p> |
