PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for enabling a user to easily appreciate a digital image even without owning a personal computer and a display device and easily watch display by adjusting the brightness of the display in accordance with ambient brightness.SOLUTION: A control microcomputer 42 of an image display device 1 reads image information from a memory card 12, performs image signal processing with an image processing block 43 to generate an image signal, and displays the image signal in a display part 4. An optical sensor is provided for detecting ambient brightness, and the control microcomputer 42 controls so as to darken the brightness of display of the display part 4 when a detected amount of light is equal to or less than a fixed value. In addition, the control microcomputer can display an image in a correct direction even if the device itself is placed vertically or horizontally, especially without instructing a vertical direction by a position detection switch 66. |
