<p>A system (1) for the preparation of beverages includes a beverage supply device (10) for delivering a dose of liquid through a liquid outlet (58) and a beverage receptacle (20) having a base having a liquid inlet (72). The supply device and beverage receptacle may be joined together using a coupling interface (44,46) for connecting the beverage supply device to the base of the beverage receptacle. This allows the liquid to flow into the bottle via the liquid inlet in the base of the beverage receptacle.
