PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air diffuser which allows an air diffusing unit to be cleaned during supply of diffusing gas to the air diffusing unit.SOLUTION: The air diffuser includes an air diffusing unit and a gas supply unit for supplying diffusing gas to the air diffusing unit. The air diffusing unit includes: a tubular body; an inlet unit as flow channel for inletting the diffusing gas supplied from the gas supply unit into the tubular body; diffusion holes for diffusing the diffusing gas inlet to the tubular body from the inlet unit toward the active sludge aeration tank from the internal part of the tubular body; a sludge exit/entrance hole for communicating the internal part of the tubular body with the active sludge aeration tank; and aperture area-switching means for controlling the aperture area of the inlet unit to a predetermined aperture area.
