In an electromagnetic brake control apparatus, a control apparatus main body releases an electromagnetic braking apparatus by exciting a brake coil to attract an armature to the brake coil. The control apparatus main body can detect commencement of a release action of the armature by attraction by the brake coil and can ascertain a speed of the armature during the release action, and changes an attractive force that arises in the brake coil while making the speed of the armature track a preset target speed when commencement of the release action is detected.
