摘要 Methods and kits are disclosed for detecting microorganisms that produce glucose oxidase. The method includes providing a culture medium and a hydrogen peroxide indicating reagent comprising a chromogenic substrate that can provide a detectable chromogenic reaction indicating the presence of a microorganism that produces glucose oxidase, and additional methods are disclosed for differentiating microorganisms by the detection of an additional chromogenic reaction.

A method of distinguishing one or more of Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus carbonarius, Aspergillus brasiliensis, Aspergillus tubingensis, Penicillium amagasakiense, and Penicillium funiculosum from one another, from one or more other microorganisms or both comprising: providing a thin film culture device comprising a cold-water-soluble gelling agent,a culture medium to support growth of a microorganism that produces glucose oxidase, wherein the culture medium comprises dextrose,a hydrogen peroxide indicating reagent comprising horseradish peroxidase and a first chromogenic substrate comprising 4-aminoantipyrene, 3-(N-ethyl-3-methylanilino)-2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid sodium salt, or a combination thereof,a second chromogenic substrate comprising 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-phosphate, a chromogenic β-D-xylopyranosidase substrate, or a combination thereof, anda sample suspected of containing the microorganism; combining, in the culture device, a predetermined volume of the sample, the culture medium, and hydrogen peroxide indicating reagent and the second chromogenic substrate; incubating the culture device; detecting a reaction of both the first chromogenic substrate and the second chromogenic substrate; and distinguishing the microorganisms based upon differences in one or more of color, shape, size and time period detected from the reaction of both the first chromogenic substrate and the second chromogenic substrate.
