PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly form a sealing material and to improve reliability of a sealing part in a liquid crystal display device having a narrow frame structure, by avoiding such a problem that a wall-like stopper for an alignment layer, which is formed in the sealing part of a counter substrate, disturbs movement of the sealing material.SOLUTION: A TFT substrate 10 including a TFT and an organic passivation film 16 that covers the TFT and having an alignment layer, and a counter substrate 20 having a color filter 22, a columnar spacer 24 and an alignment layer 19 are adhered to each other via a sealing material 30 in a sealing part; and a liquid crystal 50 is held between the TFT substrate 10 and the counter substrate 20. A wall-like structure 26 is formed in parallel to a side of the counter substrate 20, in the sealing part of the counter substrate 20; and a recess 161 of the organic passivation film 16 is formed parallel to a side of the TFT substrate 10, on the TFT substrate 10 at a position corresponding to the wall-like structure 26. Thereby, a gap between the wall-like structure 24 and the TFT substrate 10 is increased, which facilitates movement of the sealing material 30 before cured and results in uniform formation of the sealing material 30. |
