摘要 <p>A non invasive method and apparatus determines continuously the volume of oxygen delivered to the tissues using several infrared sensors. The various sensors are programmed to determine the haemoglobin level, the oxygen saturation of the blood, and the cardiac output. The product of these three factors with the known carrying capacity of haemoglobin gives the volume of oxygen delivered to the tissues in a unit time, with a microcomputer providing the necessary calculations. Other important cardiac factors are derived and all the results displayed on a screen. Non invasive blood pressure measurements, arterial haemoglobin and oxygen saturation levels are all obtained by methods which are known and are commercially available.
