PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method capable of uniformly forming a printing pattern on a surface of a long base material without causing printing unevenness.SOLUTION: A printer according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a gravure roll for sequentially filling ink in a plurality of recesses forming an intaglio part, and an offset roll onto which the ink in the plurality of recesses is sequentially transferred by the gravure roll and from which the transferred ink is sequentially printed on the surface of the long base material being continuously conveyed. The volume of the recess per unit area in the intaglio part is 6 cm/mor more and 50 cm/mor less. The viscosity of the ink is 150 mPa s or more and 2500 mPa s or less. The pressure of the offset roll applied to the surface of the long base material is 12 kg/m or more and 100 kg/m or less.
