PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying device for clothing and the like by including a compact heat pump device that can be housed in longitudinally narrow vacant space provided below and behind a storage tub for drying clothing and the like within a housing, by which an increase in ventilation resistance in an air passage formed within the heat pump device can be suppressed, prescribed drying performance can be maintained, and an increase in drying noise can be suppressed.SOLUTION: The drying device is configured to cause an airflow to flow from an inflow port 19a of a heat-absorber air passage 19 located on a left side of a housing 1 through a communicating large opening in an upper portion 23a and a side portion 23b in an air inlet chamber 23 to a side portion 25b in a discharge chamber 25 in communication with an outflow port 20b of a heat-radiator air passage 20 located on a right side of the housing 1 opposite to the inflow port 19a. Thus, an effective cross-sectional area of a flow channel from the heat-absorber air passage 19 to a heat absorber 12 and a heat radiator 13 in a heat exchange chamber 14 can be kept relatively large, flow velocity can be reduced, and an increase in ventilation resistance within the heat-absorber air passage 19 and in the heat absorber 12 can be suppressed. |
