<p>The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for classifying the gaze state of a viewer. According to the present invention, a method for classifying the gaze state of the viewer for a video by the gaze state classifying apparatus includes (a) a step of obtaining information about a gaze point for each frame of the video; and (b) a step of determining the gaze state of the viewer for the video as one among a fixation state, a pursuit state, and an intermittent saccade state by using information about the obtained gaze point, wherein step (b) is to determine the gaze state of the viewer as either the pursuit state or the intermittent saccade state by using the similarity of information about a peripheral area of the gaze point for each simultaneous frame of the video.</p> |
