摘要 A liquid crystal photo-alignment layer consisting of polymer stabilized azo dyes is provided, wherein a polymer network is induced into the photo-alignment layer for stabilization. The photo-alignment layer is realized based on two-step irradiation, wherein molecular alignment is primarily achieved so that the photo-alignment layer is produced, after which the layer is stabilized. To realize the photo-alignment layer, a particular surface of a base material is firstly coated with a film of a mixture. The mixture preferably includes azo dyes and monomers mixed at an optimal concentration of 0.67 wt%. The azo dyes and monomers have photo-absorbing peaks in different wavelengths, so that the stabilization of the photo-alignment layer by the photo-alignment of the molecules of the azo dyes and the polymerization of the monomers can be achieved by means of two separate exposures to the film.
