The magnetic system is intended for an electromagnetic contactor, or similar switchgear and has a stationary magnetic core and a moving magnetic armature, held in the guide portion (4) the entire system being mounted in a housing. The moving armature drives a moving contact mechanism. The guide portion has sprung arms (5), moving inside the housing (1), which reach round the moving armature. Preferably the free ends of the sprung arms have reach an inwards pointing protrusion (6) surrounding the armature. The protrusion surface (6a) in contact with the armature is inclined in the armature direction of movement. The housing is typically closed by a lid (2), whose inner surface is provided with walls (7) for guising the sprung arms.
