PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector for controlling adaptative dimming processing based on the feature quantity of an image under a prescribed condition such as low temperature state and speedily recovering deterioration in display quality.SOLUTION: A projector 1 that displays an image based on an image signal includes: a light source 11; a dimming processing unit 136 for adjusting the light quantity of a flux of light emitted from the light source 11 based on the feature quantity regarding brightness; a liquid crystal light bulb 40 for modulating the flux of light with the light quantity adjusted by the dimming processing unit 136 based on the image signal; and a heat control unit 140 for prohibiting a reduction of the light quantity by the dimming processing unit 136 when a prescribed condition regarding the temperature of the liquid crystal light bulb 40 is satisfied. |
