Gaseous impurities, e.g. CO2 and H2S, are removed from a gas mixt. obtd. by processes in which combustible materials have reacted at high temp. with steam. The gas mixt. is contacted with an absorbant aq. alkaline soln. in an absorption column and then the impurities are desorbed in a regeneration column with steam mainly from a reboiler heated by the incoming gas mixt. The steam is obtd. from boilers supplied with previously degassed and purified water, purification being carried in the appropriate columns. These columns being arranged (w.r.t. to the gas circuit) in series with the regeneration column of the CO2 (or H2S) removal appts. Steam necessary for purification of the waters is sent, under a pressure at least equal to that in the regeneration column, to the first column, then, to the others in succession and finally to the regeneration column, so that the steam is used several times. Heat consumption is reduced (200-230 kcal/m3 of CO2 in the case of a two stage appts. working at 28 atmos. with a glycine activated soln.) by recuperating and reusing residual heat. A larger redn. is possible from multiple use in series of the same quantity of heat. |
