<p>A conveyor system 20, comprising a conveyor 22 defining a conveying surface 24 for conveying articles in a longitudinal direction, and a diverting assembly 26 positioned diagonally at least partially across the conveying surface 24. The diverting assembly 26 travels vertically between a nonactuated position below the conveying surface 24 and an actuated position extending above the conveying surface 24. The diverting assembly 26 has a diverting surface 32 that is adapted to laterally displace articles on the conveying surface 24 when in the actuated position. The diverting assembly 26 includes a base, a plurality of rollers supported by the base and a vertically oriented belt, the belt reeved about the rollers, and a plurality of vertically oriented posts extending downwardly from the base and a plurality of stationary blocks, each for facilitating vertical reciprocating motion of one of the posts. The base includes an upper plate and a lower plate. Each of the posts passes through the lower plate and is connected at the upper plate.</p> |
