In order to prevent the propellant gases from flowing past the practice projectile (1) on the outside within the weapon barrel, a sealing system (10) is provided in the area of the solid head part (3) of the practice projectile (1), said sealing system comprising a sealing ring (11) that is acted upon by a wedge ring (12). Both the axially displaceable wedge ring (12) and the sealing ring (11) are arranged in an annular groove (13) provided in the rear section of the head part (3). The sealing ring (11), which is arranged upstream of the wedge ring (12) in the direction of firing of the practice projectile (1), comprises a rear conical inner cavity (14), into which the front area of the wedge ring (12) engages in a force- and form-fitting manner such that, during an axial application of pressure onto the wedge ring (12), said wedge ring is axially displaced and presses the outer side wall region (15) of the conical inner cavity (14) of the sealing ring (11), which acts as a sealing lip, radially against the inner wall of the weapon barrel.
