<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro-sized polarization control element of which the thickness is smaller than an operating wavelength, by using anisotropic plasmon resonance. <P>SOLUTION: The polarization control element comprises a polarization body wherein an incident direction of light is a Z direction and a polarization direction of incident light is on an X-Y plane orthogonal to the Z direction. The polarization body is constituted of a periodic layer wherein unit cells having anisotropic shapes with respect to the X-Y plane are periodically arranged on the X-Y plane to have different plasmon resonance wavelengths in different directions on the X-Y plane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
