[Class 20 (iii)] Two sashes 1, 2 are connected by two or more links 4, 7, permitting the sash 1 to be moved away from and downwards relatively to the sash 2, and to be kept in such position by gravity. The link 7 may be shorter than the link 4, and may be pivoted so that, when the sashes lie flat one on the other, its direction is inclined to the meeting plane of the sashes. As shown, the sashes have been swung, while in contact, about pivots 10, through 180 degrees from a normal position within the frame 3 to that shown ; in normal position, the tension in the link 7 has a horizontal component serving to press the sashes together and to permit the use of a simple hook for fastening them together. |
