1. A method of production of formaldehyde characterised in passing through a layer of silver catalyst 3 mm thick, in temperature from 773 to 1073 K, a stream composed of methanol and water and air steam, consistent in that to the stream of stock is additionally introduced a hydrocarbon derivative of the boiling point in atmospheric pressure below 373 K, comprising at least one atom of iodine in a molecule.
