The present invention discloses a method for updating a program of an electronic control unit, that can exclude complex specification management by updating a program, which is stored in the memory region of the electronic control unit, in a vehicle manufacturing line according to final specifications for driving regions and vehicle types. The present invention comprises the steps of: analyzing specifications for driving regions and vehicle types by collecting sequence information from a manufacture management server; collecting a program from a laboratory server according to the analyzed specifications for driving regions and vehicle types; allocating an ID to each memory block in the electronic control unit, updating the collected program and simultaneously storing the unique number (unique code) of a manufacturing line device for security reinforcement; and finishing updating the program by storing a checksum calculation method and a unique conversion formula for each memory block and storing a final checksum for each memory block.
