The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting angiogenesis, including inhibitors of NUP153 gene expression or NUP153 activation, and to a method for screening materials for preventing or treating angiogenic disease using NUP153 gene or NUP153. According to the present invention, inhibition of NUP153 gene expression or NUP153 activation reduces release of mRNA of angiogenic promotion factors (VEGF, HGF, and bFGF) from nucleus and can inhibit angiogenesis as a mechanism of inhibiting invasion and tract formation without toxicity. Accordingly, the composition of the present invention can be used for preventing or treating various diseases or conditions related to angiogenesis. Also, the screening method of the present invention can be used for discovering novel materials for preventing or treating angiogenic disease.
