The present invention relates to a polyethylene isophthalate resin and a manufacturing method thereof. The polyethylene isophthalate resin of the present invention comprises a repeated unit derived from a novel comonomer including amide bond, wherein the repeated unit induces hydrogen bond in or between polyethylene isophthalate polymer chains, and reduces generation of an annular compound which is a byproduct. Accordingly, provided is a polyethylene isophthalate resin having improved properties since viscosity and glass transition temperature are high and byproducts are less.
