The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating laundry which includes a tub fixed to a cabinet; a drum connected to the tub to be rotatable; a driving unit including bearing housing supporting a rotary shaft of the drum to be rotatable and a driving motor rotating the rotary shaft of the drum; a rear gasket sealing a rear portion of the tub, and having flexibility to enable the driving unit to relatively be moved with respect to the tub; a support member connected to the bearing housing, and extended between a lower surface of the cabinet and the tub from a rear portion of the tub; and a plurality of dampers installed between the support member and the lower surface of the cabinet, wherein the dampers include a first damper extended toward the lower surface of the cabinet from a front portion of the support member toward an inner portion; and a second damper extended from a central portion of the support member to the rear portion of the cabinet, such that vibration generated while the drum is rotated is not transferred to the tub, thereby not requiring a device for attenuating vibration of the tub, and being able to provide a large volume apparatus for treating laundry having the same cabinet size. |
