Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a device for reducing power consumed in discovering central nodes in a terminal of wireless communication system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an operating method of a terminal to discover at least one central nodes in a wireless communication system includes: a step for generating a discovery request signal and transmitting the signal to the central nodes; a step of shifting the terminal from a normal mode to a lower power mode after transmitting the discovery request signal, and driving the terminal in the low power mode; a step of shifting the terminal from the low power mode to the normal mode in response to reception of a mode shift commanding signal from the central node; and a step of receiving a discovery response signal for the discovery request signal from the central node in the normal mode.
