The provision of a display panel and display device in which, without machining a black matrix, marks that indicate reference attachment positions for a structure such as a patterned retarder film can be provided on a substrate. This display panel contains a plurality of display elements arrayed in a matrix pattern, a first light-transmitting substrate that has a plurality of signal input units along the perimeter thereof, and a second light-transmitting substrate provided with a rectangular light-blocking layer that prevents light from passing between the display elements and blocks light from outside a display region comprising the plurality of display elements. Wiring that connects the signal input units to the display elements is formed on the first light-transmitting substrate. Marks that indicate positions with respect to the display elements are provided in at least two locations along the edge of the first light-transmitting substrate, and each of said marks has an intersecting part that intersects one of the edges of the light-blocking layer. |
