<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine having two banks, including a secondary air supply device, and capable of suppressing the worsening of exhaust emission when determining the abnormality of an air control valve of the secondary air supply device.SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine, when the abnormality of the air control valve is determined, first catalyst warm-up control is executed for one bank where the supply of secondary air is executed, including control to inject fuel from a cylinder fuel injection valve in a compression stroke while changing a combustion air-fuel ratio in a whole cylinder into a rich air-fuel ratio, to form a high-concentration region where fuel concentration in part of a combustion chamber rises and a low-concentration region having lower fuel concentration than the high-concentration region, and second catalyst warm-up control is executed for the other bank where the supply of the secondary air is stopped, including control to inject fuel from a cylinder fuel injection valve in a compression stroke while changing a combustion air-fuel ratio in a whole cylinder into a lean air-fuel ratio, to form a high-concentration region where fuel concentration in part of a combustion chamber rises and a low-concentration region having lower fuel concentration than the high-concentration region.</p> |
