PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring device which suppresses distance measuring accuracy from being lowered and suppresses a distance measuring image signal from being deteriorated depending on a photographic condition.SOLUTION: A distance measuring device comprises: a distance measuring pixel having a plurality of photoelectric conversion units for receiving light beam passing through first and second pupil regions; and a reading unit shared by the plurality of photoelectric conversion units in the distance measuring pixel. The distance measuring device outputs signal charge stored in one of the photoelectric conversion units as a first signal, and outputs a second signal obtained by adding signal charge stored in the other photoelectric conversion unit to the first signal. The distance measuring device can select a first transfer mode in which a photoelectric conversion unit with a stronger signal intensity is set as a first photoelectric conversion unit and which acquires the signal charge stored in the other photoelectric conversion unit according to a difference between the first and second signals after noise reduction processing, and a second transfer mode in which a photoelectric conversion unit with a weaker signal intensity is set as the first photoelectric conversion unit and which acquires the signal charge stored in the other photoelectric conversion unit according to the difference between the first and second signals.
