Provided is a light source device compatible with multiple types of observation light for different purposes. The light source device (10) is provided with a main unit (40), light source modules (20A, 20B, 20C) detachably attached to the main unit (40), and recording media (24A, 24B, 24C) onto which characteristic information about the light source modules (20A, 20B, 20C) is recorded. The light source modules (20A, 20B, 20C) have at least one light source (21A, 21B, 21C), and one optical connection part (23A, 23B, 23C) optically connected to the main unit (40). The main unit (40) has light entry parts (41A, 41B, 41C) optically connected in respective fashion to the optical connection parts (23A, 23B, 23C), a light synthesis unit (43) for synthesizing light that enters the light entry parts (41A, 41B, 41C), an output part (45) for outputting the synthesized light, and an output light characteristic derivation unit (48) for deriving characteristic information about the output light that is it possible to deliver. |
