<p>[PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED] To provide an electrode wire for electric discharge machining capable of suppressing drop of tensile strength even when electric discharge energy is increased, capable of improving cutting accuracy of a workpiece, and capable of improving the machining speed. [SOLUTION] In an electrode wire for electric discharge machining, a stainless steel wire is made a core wire, nickel (Ni) is coated on an outer periphery of the core wire, and copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) are coated in this order. Preferably, the thickness of the nickel (Ni) is 0.01 to 2.0 µm, the tensile strength of the electrode wire at an ordinary temperature is 1,900 to 3,200 N/mm 2 , the tensile strength of the electrode wire at 400°C is 70% or more of the tensile strength at the ordinary temperature, an outside diameter ¦ of across section of the electrode wire after drawing work is 0.03 mm to 0.1 mm, heat treatment of alloying the copper (Cu) and the zinc (Zn) is performed, and straightening work is performed by hot stretching work.</p> |
